Academic Quality Committee

Purpose

This is a standing subcommittee of the Learning and Student Success Committee (LASS). The Academic Quality Committee (AQC) provides a mechanism for program review of academic programs and oversees the academic components of accreditation. The AQC is responsible for academic strategic planning, monitoring achievement of academic outcomes and promotion of quality enhancement activities that promote student learning.

Membership

Representation is broad-based and may include faculty members, program managers, and program directors from Arts and Sciences, Applied Sciences and Technologies, Adult and Community Education, Institutional Effectiveness, Advising and Counseling, Tutoring and Learning Center, and a student representative.

The dean, division of arts and sciences, dean, division of applied sciences and technologies, dean of adult and community education, and dean, student services, serve as ex-officio members. The committee reports to LASS. The chair will be chosen by the committee on an annual basis.

Meetings

Meetings are scheduled monthly during the academic year. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed in a variety of formats, including the use of online platforms.

Functions

  1. Create and monitor the program review process for all academic programs
  2. Provide recommendations to the LASS Committee for quality improvement activities that facilitate academic quality
  3. Develop process and monitor assessment of college-wide general education student learning outcomes
