Melanie Morgan Jackson attended the University of Kentucky (UK) in Lexington and received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. While attending college, she worked as a data processor, graduate program specialist, residency specialist and administrative assistant in the Registrar's Office at UK and Cumberland. Melanie received her Master's in Education in Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida.

She taught at Avon Park High School for 9 ½ years, serving as the webmaster, chairperson of the Business/Computer Science Department, and teaching Web page design and digital publishing. She also coached cheerleading and girls basketball and volleyball, while advising the junior class and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Jackson received a TeachNet grant sponsored by Florida Power and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Teachers several years in a row.

Jackson has served as an adjunct instructor at South Florida State College since 1995, teaching Computer Science, Medical Secretarial, Business, Introduction to Educational Technology and First Year Experience courses. She holds certificates in Secondary and Middle School Business Education, Computer Science, and Post-Secondary Education and Computer Science.

Jackson joined South Florida State College as the director of educational technology and the webmaster in November 2003. In 2007 she transitioned to become the director of the Electronic Learning Department. She serves as the SFSC representative and Secretary to the Florida Virtual Campus-Distance Learning and Student Services Members Council. She continues to teach education and first year courses and is the advisor for Campus Christian Club.
