Policy: 7.01

Title: Facilities Planning and Construction

Legal Authority: Florida Statutes: 1001.64, 1013; Florida Administrative Code 6A-2.0111 (SREF)

Office of Primary Responsibility: Vice President for Administrative Services


The president is authorized to contract with architectural, engineering, and construction firms for facilities projects of which the basic construction cost is estimated to not exceed the threshold amount provided in Florida Statute (FS) 287.017, Category Five or for a planning or study activity when the professional services fee is not expected to exceed the threshold provided in FS 287.017, Category Two.

The president shall make recommendations to the Board for review and approval for all major projects and master planning update activities, including the selection of professional firms needed for planning, permitting, and construction activities. The president is authorized to develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with the competitive selection and negotiation requirements contained within FS for various types and levels of professional services associated with facilities planning and construction.
