Title: Commemorative Naming of College Facilities

Legal Authority: Florida Statute 1001.64

Office of Primary Responsibility: President's Office

The purpose of this policy is to authorize the commemorative naming of college facilities or property.

The naming of college facilities or property may be in recognition of those who have made significant contributions to the college.

Those who make commemorative or memorial gifts to the college or the South Florida State College Foundation, Inc. may request the naming of facilities or property.  Such contributions must be for the purpose of constructing, remodeling, or renovating facilities, for the support of programs, or for the purchase of equipment or property.

When honoring college employees or others associated with the college by naming facilities or property after them, those being considered shall have made a significant contribution consistent with the mission of the college through outstanding service and a distinguished career with the college.

In all instances, decisions will be congruent with the college’s mission.  The Board of Trustees will have final authority for commemorative naming of college facilities and property.
