Work Study Programs

Work Study provides part-time employment to help students earn funds to assist with educational costs. SFSC Financial Aid Office offers several work study programs.

The Work Study Program allows students to work in college departments, assisting with clerical work and other duties as assigned. Students earn the current minimum wage per hour for a maximum of 15 to 20 hours per week. Timesheets must be submitted on the last day of the month, students are paid on the 15th of the month.

Federal Work Study Program (FWS)

The Federal Work Study Program is a need-based program designed to provide part-time employment for students with financial need. A limited number of positions are available per term.

Requirements for federal work-study positions:
  • FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office
  • Have a unmet need
  • Enrolled in at least six credit hours
  • 2.0 GPA
Internal Work Study Program (IWS)

The Internal Work Study Program is similar to the federal program; however, financial need is not a factor. Students are paid minimum wage and may work up to 12 hours per week in approved positions.

Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP)

The Florida Work Experience Program is a need-based program funded by the state of Florida to provided eligible SFSC students work experience that will complement and reinforce their educational and career goals. As with other need-based state programs, information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine eligibility for FWEP funds.
