By enrolling in the Early College Program, students may be able to earn an Associate in Arts (AA) degree by the time they graduate from high school. SFSC Early College Program students must be high school juniors or seniors and are expected to:
- Attend college classes full-time
- Complete at least 30 credit hours of college coursework
As an Early College Program student, you must verify that the college courses you select will satisfy your high school graduation requirements. It is important to:
- Work closely with your guidance counselor to make sure you are taking the appropriate college courses
- Consult the college or university where you eventually plan to earn your bachelor’s degree to verify that your SFSC college courses can be applied to your desired bachelor’s program
Preparing for the Early College Program
If you wish to enroll in the Early College Program, you should begin preparing in the ninth and tenth grade by:
- Taking two years of foreign language classes
- Completing English, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology I, Earth Space Science , Human Geography, HOPE, and Leadership Techniques courses
Students on the engineering track should earn at least a B in College Algebra.
Junior and senior level high school requirements are satisfied by the college courses you complete. Take electives sparingly in the ninth and tenth grades, as these courses will be needed to apply to college coursework.
