Students who enroll in the Early College Program have the ability to earn an Associate in Arts (AA) degree by the time they graduate from high school. The criteria for admission are:

  • You must be in your junior or senior year of high school.
  • You must attend college classes full-time.
  • You must complete at least 30 credit hours of college coursework.

As an Early College Program student, you must verify that the college courses you select will satisfy your high school graduation requirements. It is important to:

  • Work closely with your guidance counselor to make sure you are taking the appropriate college courses
  • Consult the college or university where you eventually plan to earn your bachelor’s degree to verify that the credits you earn at SFSC can be applied to your desired bachelor’s program

Preparing for the Early College Program

If you wish to enroll in the Early College Program, you should begin preparing in the ninth and 10th grade by:

  • Taking two years of foreign language classes
  • Completing English, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology I, Earth Space Science , Human Geography, HOPE, and Leadership Techniques courses

Students on the engineering track should earn at least a B in College Algebra.

Junior and senior level high school requirements are satisfied by the college courses students complete. Students who choose this track are advised take electives sparingly in the ninth and 10th grades as these courses will be fulfilled by their college coursework.
