Nursing assistants work under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) to assist patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, maintaining a safe environment, and collecting basic patient data. They are employed by outpatient clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn 90 hours of Introduction to Health Care and 75 hours of Nursing Assistant, thus acquiring the technical and academic knowledge needed for taking the state certification exam, employability, and for further education advancement in health science careers.
Funding Opportunities: Scholarships are available for the Nursing Assistant program. You may be eligible if you are unemployed or underemployed, a resident of the Heartland and meet U.S Citizenship requirements, or hold a current permanent resident alien card (other restrictions apply). To enroll in the Nursing Assistant program, follow the handy checklist below, as we get eight students to complete and return the forms, SFSC will schedule the next course and provide you with dates and logistics. The course will be Monday and Friday evenings and all day Sunday for approximately 12 weeks. Our goal is to conduct a course each semester.
