Eligibility for South Florida State College ESOL classes:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Not enrolled in high school
- Must apply in-person at SFSC Adult Education Department and bring a valid government-issued photo ID
Admission requirements of ESOL students to South Florida State College
Use the following to help determine eligibility:
- Naturalized U.S. Citizen (U.S. citizen certificate, U.S. passport, or voter registration card)
- Resident alien/Permanent Resident (Green card)
- Visas with letters A, E, G, or L stamped separately on it (government officials)
- H-1B (work permit)
- H-4 (spouse or child of an H-1B)
- Passport with the letter I (media), K (fiancée/child of U.S. Citizen), or N (parent/child accorded special immigrant status)
- NATO passport stamped with O-3 (family member of NATO officials) or R (religious worker)
- Political Asylum
Ineligible Visas
The following are ineligible visas and may not enroll in the ESOL courses. Applicants must verify they are not in the United States on one of the Visa’s listed below.
- Student Visas (F-1/F-2, M-1/M-2 or J-1/J-2)
- Tourist Visa (B-1/B-2)
- Visa Waiver
If using a valid foreign government issued passport, a copy of the passport and visa must be attached with the ESOL application of admissions.
